The World Traumatologist Day
20 May 22
May 20th is World Traumatologist Day, one of the oldest branches of medicine.
The first notes about traumatology and orthopedics are found in ancient time inscriptions, specifically in the works of Hippocrates “on injuries” and “on joints”. Of course, the methods and possibilities of those days and nowadays are incomparable, but the mission of doctors is the same - to help people without harming them.
Dear doctors, the feedback, blessings and words of appreciation from the parents of little patients are about your humanism and professionalism.
Thank you and congratulations on your day!

“Arabkir” MC is the leader in the nephrology field in Armenia. Since 2002 kidney transplantation has been performed here and the 200th transplant was done recently. Four departments in our medical complex work on kidney health: nephrology, uro-surgery, hemodialysis and transplantology departments.

Exclusive Neurosurgical Operations
07 March 22
The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service of “Arabkir” MC together with Bulgarian colleagues have performed exclusive surgeries like Deep Brain Stimulation /DBS/ for the first time in Armenia. This is an effective neurosurgical method especially for movement disorders. Most of the time it is applied in adult medicine, for example if a patient has parkinsonism. When medications do not help, surgical intervention is necessary: electrodes are implanted in certain nuclei, and those electrodes work with the instructions of a subcutaneous pacemaker-like device - controlling impulses. In order to perform and master this surgical method, a group of Armenian doctors was trained at the University Hospital “Saint Ivan Rilski” of Sofia last June.
The first of the two patients operated in “Arabkir” MC had Parkinson's disease and the second patient is an 11 year old girl, who, about five years ago, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, which leads to progressive movement disorders. Adjustments of stimulators for both patients will be made 3 weeks after the surgery
Except Deep Brain Stimulation, epilepsy surgeries were performed, the second of which was exceptional for Armenia, because a 2 year old patient with a high frequency of epileptic seizures was operated on.
We wish health to all patients.
We thank our colleagues, who helped us to perform these hard operations and the Children’s Health Foundation of Armenia, with the support of which the 11 year old girl underwent surgery.

Ara Babloyan about Press Publications
26 January 22
Read Ara Babloyan’s response to the press publications about in-patient care conditions in pediatric clinics.
“Yes, yesterday we participated in the discussion that took place at the Ministry of Health on the in-patient care conditions in pediatric clinics.
It was a multifaceted discussion between healthcare organizers, heads of large pediatric healthcare organizations and healthcare specialists. We, as organizers of children’s healthcare and heads of medical centers, support creating mechanisms that will prevent patients from staying at hospitals unreasonably long and will benefit the effectiveness of the medical process. But we also need to protect the rights of patients, who need long-term hospitalization; they should not be denied in the influence of the general approach.
We are glad that everyone at the discussion shared this opinion and we hope that the optimal mechanism, which should be finalized by the MoH, will combine the ideas of preventing the unnecessary long stay at in-patient care units and protecting the rights of patients in need of long-term hospitalization.
